Out Of Pocket: LA Reid Dips Out On Speech To Avoid Talks About Him Getting Fired
Soon to be fired Def Jam CEO LA Reid was scheduled to give a speech at a music event this week but canceled. He says his son was sick but sources say he wanted to avoid questions about his future at the label.

Top music industry players paid up to $1,000 to hear LA Reid speak at this years Billboard 2010 Music & Money Symposium at the St. Regis. Just hours before he was scheduled to speak, LA pulled out claiming his son had a serious head injury and needed surgery. LA’s peers feared that he was afraid to answer questions about his possible termination from Def Jam after disappointing record sales.
A source close to him says LA isn’t going anywhere and is about to sign J.Lo… That isn’t the best thing to say in order to support someone’s status of employment.
