BOSSIP recently sat down with Shante Broadus aka “Boss Lady” about everything involving her family including separation with Snoop as well as their children:

Bossip: How did you and Snoop reconcile your almost finalized divorce?

Shante: He offered to reconcile the family for one. We have children. We are big on family and our kids come first. That is their father.

Bossip: So, it has been a non-Hollywood marriage then?

Shante: Yes. With more downs than ups… but you can’t cry over spilled milk.

Bossip: How do you feel about being one of the very few successful black families in Hollywood?

Shante: It feels great. You get a lot of perks. I never thought this would be my life… it feels good. I do what I want and go where I want. Able to put my kids through school. I take care of my family… my mom and my sister. The hating part is where I stick with my family. Other than that I love… my… life.

Bossip: How is motherhood now that you have more? (Is it easier with more resources… the benefits of living outside of the hood)

Shante: I just feel blessed to be a part of this kind of movement. We have the motivation to have more and keep it. We have more and are fortunate now, but I take them back to the East Side every now and then… showing them how we came up and what we have provided for them. They were born into success… but me and Snoop made it from the bottom. So, we always want them to keep sight of what they are blessed with.

Bossip: Are you active in the kids scholastics and sports?

Shante: I’m involved, but I don’t have to sit there and do the homework with them. The dream works, they have tutors. But, at the same time I am good with my children’s teachers, the principal called me today. Their games, I am all over them. Around football season, we shut everything down.

Bossip: How is Chocolate?

Shante: Her lupus… Oh, she is a trooper, honor roll student, softball… she is amazing. She is handling it well… she was actually diagnosed with it prior to last year. It was hard, I almost went insane from that point… but, with the teamwork and the family this big… we have support. My sister takes her to the doctor… My mom too. I cried today about it… it’s very hard to deal with. I came out a year ago because… she… was ready to tell everyone what was wrong with her. So, I brought it out.

Bossip: Are your boys in relationships with women yet?

Shante: My oldest had a relationship… me and the girl were really close and it was all good. But, he is not in one at the present time.

Bossip: How do you feel about the boys swirling?

Shante: Um… I have enough going on my life to worry about them swirling. I wouldn’t really care. There’s somebody for everybody.

Bossip: Do you read Bossip?( How Often?)

Shante: I just know you guys… but i’m not really familiar with it. I’m lying… I know you guys are always in the know… and my folks be telling me what’s going on. That’s how much of a boss… I am.

Bossip: Nice… What do you think we need more of in the Black Community?

Shante: Togetherness. We are not together… I see Hector and Jose pushing carts and our people laughing at Jerome for pushing his. I want to see more togetherness with our people.

Bossip: Anything you would like to say about Teena Marie’s death?

Shante: It’s sad whenever people are here one day and leave the next. It’s always sad to lose someone… and she was one of the best. She was so soulful. So, my prayers just go out to her family.
