Rumor Control: Report Says That US Will Withdraw All Troops From Iraq By January
There’s a bit of confusion about whether or not the US will be removing troops from Iraq in January or not.
Reports came out over the weekend that the troops would be 100 percent evacuated from Iraq, but the Pentagon has denied reports. The AP originally reported that security talks between the US and Iraqi governments broke down, causing the US to pull its troops out in January. The Pentagon, though, released this statement:
In a statement to reporters, Pentagon press secretary George Little denied the negotiations had collapsed, saying the Obama administration had not made any decisions on a future mission.
“Suggestions that a final decision has been reached about our training relationship with the Iraqi government are wrong. Those discussions are ongoing,” Little said.
Looks like we won’t know the fate of the Iraq occupation for a while. Let’s figure it out, Obama!
