One of the toughest and longest-running celebrity custody battles has been the well-publicized court fight by Halle Berry to get legal permission to move to France with her daughter Nahla and to permanently live in Paris with her fiancé and fellow actor Olivier Martinez.

While this has been vigorously contested by Berry’s ex-beau — and Nahla’s father — model Gabriel Aubrey, there are hints that this conflict has taken something of a toll on Berry and Martinez’s own relationship.

“Olivier really does not like L.A.,” said a source long close to Berry. “He wants to just be in France — except when work takes him elsewhere. Halle wants to be with him full-time too, but this whole situation has made life difficult, and has begun to add a lot of pressure on them. … I get the sense things may not be going so well.”

That said, a second Berry buddy denies the possible splitsville chatter. “Yes, this whole custody thing has been a bitch, but I’m convinced it will actually make Halle and Olivier’s relationship stronger — not weaker.”
