Breaking news is old within seconds and the celebrated are overrated in today’s microwave music era. In most cases, hype outshines talent which explains why it’s nearly impossible to escape these overhyped artists.

Here are the ten most overrated artists in music today. Take a look.[bossip_ad_a]

Lauryn Hill

One classic album…15 years ago yet she’s still worshipped by millions who waited hours just to see her perform 2.7 songs at recent shows. Between ’96-’99, she had two timeless albums and a classic movie role (“Sister Act 2”) but that was lifetimes ago. Sadly, in 2013, she’s more of a fond memory than anything else.[bossip_ad_a]

Rick Ross

You would think the gravy-sweating rapper/actor had sold 20+ million albums based on his gaudy bravado (and refusal to cover his man-boobs) but he never has. Five albums. ZERO platinum plaques. But he’s a “Boss?” All of the features and extravagant beats and blog-fueled hype and STILL can’t go platinum? Overrated.[bossip_ad_a]

Frank Ocean

No one was paying attention when Franky-O sang “I believe that marriage isn’t between a man and woman, but between love and love” on “We All Try” in 2011—A whole year before he revealed his sexuality and rose to stardom. Dope songwriter? YES, but too vocally-mediocre for all THIS hype. [bossip_ad_a]
