Happy 50th birthday to the late Whitney Houston!
Female Artists Who Could Become The Next Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston had a record-breaking vocal ability and extraordinary talent that was legendary.
Though the last 5 or so years of her life saw much of the focus shift from her talent to her unfortunate battle with drugs and alcohol that took a toll on her once-angelic singing voice and eventually took her life, there’s no disputing that for much of her career, she was an artist in a lane all her own.
Her passing has undoubtedly left a void in the music industry that won’t soon be filled…..but are there any ladies in the game that even have a fair shot at making the mark on music that Whitney did?
We think so.
While she certainly can never be replaced, there are a handful of female artists with an equally immense amount of raw vocal talent who could be destined for the same type of greatness if they can hang around for the long haul…..do you think they have what it takes?
Take a look at a few unforgettable performances from some of the music industry’s most underrated vocalists and decide for yourself.
You may remember Tiffany from her short-lived single “Promise Ring” that hit the charts a few years ago, but she’s definitely still one to watch today with a voice to rival the best of them.
Initially gaining mainstream recognition while on the “Bluprint 3” tour with her Roc Nation bossman Jay-Z, Bridget Kelly and her effortless vocals are steadily climbing their way to much-deserved limelight shine and success.
Emeli Sand is a UK artist who has been grinding for quite some time and is finally getting some shine in the U.S. Her sound is original, her voice is pure talent and her music is a refreshing change from the norm.
Jennifer Hudson’s vocal talent is undeniable and arguably untouchable on today’s music scene. She’ll definitely be remembered as a raw talent for many years to come.
16-year-old Jessica Sanchez shocked American Idol viewers 2 seasons ago with her out-of-this-world voice and diva persona on stage. Don’t let her small stature fool you because she easily puts your favorite singer’s favorite singer to shame with performances like this one (above)
….and this one…
The second Roc Nation artist on our list, Melanie Fiona is one of the most underrated artists currently climbing the mainstream charts with her powerhouse voice and talent for days. Don’t sleep.
Jazmine Sullivan came onto the scene backed by many in the music industry for her strong R&B roots and consistently impressive vocal talent. We’re still waiting on whatever else she has coming up..cause it’s guaranteed to be great.
We all thought KeKe Wyatt would take her late 90’s/early 2000’s music industry run all the way to the top. She is back on the scene as reality star now but, hopefully we’ll hear more music from her too. She’s definitely got the goods.
Elle Varner is one of a few female artists to hit the scene running within the last 3 years. Her unique style, signature voice and R&B roots keep her in the running for the crown.
