Chris Rock didn’t love his wife?

Chris Rock Denies Divorcing Wife To Date Rosario Dawson

Chris Rock’s divorce from his wife of 19 years, Malaak Compton-Rock, is already getting contentious. Sources said Malaak is attempting to file for sole custody of their two children, Lola Simone, 12, and Zahra Savannah, 10, and prevent Chris from seeing them.

Via Page Six reports:

Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak Compton-Rock. The couple was married for 19 years and has two daughters together.

Chris, who filed papers in New Jersey last Tuesday, is seeking shared legal and physical custody. “He lives for his children,” a source told us. “They come first. When he was doing a publicity tour for ‘Top Five,’ he made it clear it had to be scheduled around being able to take his daughters to school and pick them up.”

Rumors have surfaced that Chris has moved on to a relationship with his “Top Five” co-star and longtime friend Rosario Dawson, but his rep firmly tells us, “There is no truth to that. The rumor is 100 percent untrue.”

The earlier source added, “Chris just wasn’t happy in the marriage anymore. There is no third party involved . . . Chris and his wife had previously separated and got back together, so there have been problems for some time.”

The source added that some on Chris’ team were taken aback by the statement that Malaak, who is active in a number of charities, gave confirming the divorce. It included the line, “Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life’s blessings, even when faced with difficulties.” The source tells us, “It seemed odd to mention her work when confirming their divorce.”

Malaak has hired power matrimonial attorney Allan Mayefsky, who repped Katie Holmes in her split from Tom Cruise. Rock is repped by Robert S. Cohen, who’s repped Christie Brinkley and James Gandolfini. Mayefsky didn’t get back to us. Cohen referred us to a publicist who commented only on the Dawson matter.

Chris and Malaak signed a prenup in 1996, but we’re told it could prove to be a key battleground in their divorce since it was created so many years ago and may have expired.

If Chris wanted to smash Rosario or any other woman then he would, no divorce needed. Do you think Chris filed those papers so he can publicly tip out with his new woman?
