BOSSIP: How would you describe your sound?

Moniece: “I’ve actually never been able to describe my sound until now. I just have to come to come to grips with the fact that I’m an R&B singer. I’ve finally gotten comfortable w the fact that I’m an R&B singer. I’ve been told that some of it has a country feel to it.”

BOSSIP: You are about to drop a new song, “Compromise.” What was the inspiration for that record?

Moniece: “It was driven by things that either myself or my girlfriend were feeling in the relationship. Things that we discussed. But “Compromise” was really inspired by the fact that

one of the biggest issues in our relationship was compromised. I’m 30, and people in my family and people tell me that they have to adjust to me because it’s easier to deal with than the temper tantrums or the attitude. In the relationship, she kind of fell in line with that…“I don’t like being wrong. I don’t like to have to say sorry, so this was a better way. This EP, this song was like the first page in a relationship journal. it was like my way saying sorry, but I’m not sorry for the way that I feel.”

BOSSIP: Last week, an old roommate accused you of writing bad rent checks? What happened?

Moniece: “I lawyered up. It was an old story from Season One. Those things have been removed from his social media. The claims are completely false, and I will not be giving that story any life.”
