Newly Released Video Shows Cops Assaulting Suicidal Hospital Patient

According to The NYPost, newly released video shows a disgusting New Jersey cop assaulting a suicidal patient that was being restrained in a hospital bed.

Paterson Police Officer Ruben McAusland, 27, was caught on cellphone video shot by a fellow officer as he slapping the man so hard in the face twice that blood sprays on the bed. The victim, identified as Andrew Casciano, had just attempted suicide in March 2018, and was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where he was met by McAusland and Officer Roger Then, 29.

McAusland first met Casciano, who was in a wheelchair, in the waiting room, where the officer pushed him and punched him in the face, US Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

The victim suffered multiple facial injuries from the beatings, including an eye injury that required surgery. On Wednesday, he was sentenced in Newark federal court to more than five years in prison for drug dealing and for the assault. McAusland will also face three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $32,892 in restitution.

The other officer is awaiting sentencing on charges that he recorded the hospital room assault and falsified reports to hide the assault.

Casciano has reportedly filed a $4 million lawsuit against the city.
