The Story Behind The Diddy, Lizzo "Fat Shaming" Controversy
Here’s Why Diddy Is Being Called Fatphobic For His Lizzo And Draya IG Lives And The Debate That’s Raged Since
Diddy’s Easter Sunday telethon was a resounding success and full of good will and raised money for causes related to the Covid-19 epidemic. It was quite the newsworthy event as he had his ex Jennifer Lopez and her current boo Alex Rodriguez in the conversation looking like besties. Of course that caused people to lose their minds. He also had Drake and called him a top five rapper of all time. It was all good to see.
Then came Lizzo. It all seemed like fun and games until she played some music and started twerking. Then Diddy put a stop to it, claiming it was Easter and he had to keep it kid-friendly.
That sparked all sorts of controversy, conspiracies, gripes and complaints. Diddy had to set the record straight. Lizzo had to set the record straight. Tory Lanez and Draya got involved. So what is the real story? What happened and should anyone be blamed?
Hit the flip so we can break it all down. With video!

Here is the controversial video in question. Lizzo starts tooting it up and twerking but Diddy hops in and tries to tell her this is a family show. She immediately apologizes and it gets really cringe. People didn’t really pay it much mind until they saw what happened next.

Later in the game, Diddy had Draya on to do some twerking. She had pajamas on but she was still putting that thang out. Diddy and his sons were all game for the show. Diddy didn’t stop Draya or say anything about a family show.
Diddy on stopping Lizzo: “When I stopped the music, it’s because it had a lot of curses in there, not cuz she was twerking. She’s one of the best twerkers in the world.” pic.twitter.com/tRl2cEZshL

That prompted all sorts of trending topics and debate. Why did Diddy stop Lizzo and not stop Draya? Is this another form of fat shaming? Was Draya’s body more acceptable for some reason? This all led to accusations of Diddy being fat phobic. He defended himself by saying it was the music Lizzo played, not the video.

Lizzo went to Quarantine Radio with Tory Lanez and backed up Diddy’s statement. She said it was because of the music not the video. People were still in disbelief because Draya was, in fact, twerking to Back That Azz Up, which had its fair share of bad language. However, if Lizzo feels fine, shouldn’t you?
