Trevante Rhodes and Shamier Anderson Join Tamron Hall Show

Good Googly Moogly! Trevante Rhodes And Shamier Anderson Bring Their Talents To ‘Tamron Hall’

- By

Besides both being “devastatingly handsome” actors, Anderson and Rhodes both were raised by single mothers. They both opened up about how those experiences made “Bruiser” even more personal to them.

Check out the clip below:

Shamier Anderson and Trevante Rhodes on why “Bruiser” was such an important project to them both:

Shamier Anderson: “I mean, I never had a father growing up. So my father was my mother, my mother was my father. And so for me, pulling from my lived experiences to channel what I did for Malcolm was true to form. I was able to really use the experience of struggle, of pushing through, you know, similar to my character, Malcolm who had a smile on his face the entire time. And what I want to highlight in this film that’s so important, is I love that you got one stepfather wanting to love his son, but also his real father and you have two Black men wanting to be present in each other’s lives, which I think is so important.”

Trevante Rhodes: “Well, in every way, that’s [being a new father] the main reason for my involvement in this piece. This is the first piece that as a company, we had the opportunity to help champion. And so dedicating it to my son, you know, my firstborn. For his first birthday, I gifted him Porter’s jacket and so when he’s old enough to wear it, I’ll let them watch the film. And I like to do things like that. It’s an art piece, but it’s love.”

“Bruiser” is streaming on HULU now!
