New Atlanta "Housewife" Marlo Hampton Addresses Criminal Past
The Side-Eye: All That Criminal Activity Made The New Atlanta “Housewife” A “Woman Of God”
Bravo’s newest housewife isn’t too happy that the first thing we’ve all found out about her is that she’s a convicted felon.
Not that any of it is a lie. But Marlo Hampton wants you to understand how it is that she ended up arrested seven times.
“Let me first state that I am not ashamed of my past as that has helped me become a better woman today,” Marlo told BOSSIP in a statement. “We all have a past and my hard-knock childhood in and out of the Foster Care system is a reflection on a bigger issue we are faced with here in America, a broken Foster Care system. My present charge in life is to live with God in my heart and help young women especially from the foster care system avoid the challenges I faced. I’m more then just what is being said of me and I have a story to tell.”
It sounds very good. We can’t knock Marlo if she has in fact changed her life and is using the lessons from her past mistakes to help others do better.
But knowing how the producers and editors of Bravo’s “Housewives” shows get down, we hope those words don’t come back to haunt her.
Either way, we can’t wait to learn more about Marlo. She definitely seems interesting, if nothing else.
Fun Fact: The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) began as the third installment in The Real Housewives franchise, and premiered on Bravo on October 7, 2008. The show was created to build on the success of its predecessors, The Real Housewives of Orange County and New York City.
The first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta featured the following cast members: Lisa Wu, DeShawn Snow, NeNe Leakes, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, and Shereé Whitfield. Marlo Hampton first appeared on The Real Housewives of Atlanta in season 4 this year.
