Cry Me A River: Convicted Black Serial Killer Anthony Sowell Offers His Apologies During His Sentencing Hearing
Pardon us, but we’re still shocked that there is a black serial killer…
Convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell took the stand on Monday during the sentencing phase of the trial.
Last month, a Cuyahoga County jury convicted Sowell on 82 counts, including aggravated murder, rape, kidnapping and abuse of a corpse.
“The only thing I want to say is that I’m sorry. I know that may not seem like much. And I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart,” Sowell said, at the end of his unsworn testimony on Monday. “This is not typical of me. I don’t know what happened. I can’t explain it. But I know it’s not a lot, but that’s all I can give.”

8:31 a.m.: The jury was told to report at 8:30 today, which means proceedings should get started a little before 9 a.m. The day ended yesterday with Dr. Diana Goldstein on the stand. The neuropsychiatrist and expert witness told the jury she did not believe that Sowell suffered from any type of cognitive disorder, disputing what defense witnesses had testified earlier.
You’re right sir, it isn’t much, and it damn sure ain’t gon’ save you from the chair. Arrivederci…
