Former NFL Player Joe McKinight Shot And Killed In New Orleans
Sad news from New Orleans today, as it’s been reported that Former NFL player Joe McKnight was shot to death by a motorist during an argument at an intersection. Joe was only 28 years old.
According to ABC7, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand found McKnight was lying on the ground when they arrived at the scene, at which point they immediately administered CPR to McKnight, but they were unable to save him.
The heartbreaking scene in which officers tried to revive McKnight, to no avail, was captured on camera as well:
Police didn’t release much about the incident at time of publication, but report that McKinight was standing outside of his vehicle when he was shot.
He was killed by Ronald Gasser, a 54-year-old white man. Their vehicles were reportedly parked side by side at the intersection.
Gasser turned over his weapon to police when they arrived on the scene, and is currently in custody, being questioned further.
So sad for this young man and his family. SMH.
