XXXTentacion Meets Backlash Over Creepy Instagram Video
XXXTentacion posted a video to his Instagram on Wednesday night that appeared to show him jumping down from a ladder branch and hanging himself in a tree. The disturbing clip was met with mostly negative reactions, minus the weird comments from some of his insensitive fans. There was no immediate reaction from anyone in the artists camp, so everyone was left wondering if it was real–though it was pretty obvious it wasn’t, because he did post the video after “hanging” himself.”
Of course, pretending to commit suicide for what would only seem as publicity is completely and utterly inappropriate, and a lot of people were rightfully offended. After a few hours of leaving everyone confused about his decision to be so insensitive, he posted another video to Instagram with the caption, “if you thought I would “pretend” to kill myself for a publicity stunt you’re f***ing stupid”…umm, but like that’s what you did? ok.
He posted on Twitter in a series of now-deleted tweets, explaining that the clip was a scene from an upcoming music video. He said that he hadn’t commented after posting the clip because he was busy filming. He also explained that the noose was “a prop from a slavery scene.” He waved off contentions that people would be worried it was real. “I figured [my fans] would know which song it was for,” he wrote.
