Kelly Rowland Reveals Beyonce’s Response To “Dirty Laundry”

R&B/Pop songstress Kelly Rowland is heavy on the promo trail for her new album “Talk A Good Game.”

In addition to gracing stages, airwaves and red carpets across the country, Kelly’s latest single “Dirty Laundry,” in which she comes clean about her past relationship issues and even reveals personal issues with BFF Beyonce, is continuing to make headlines.

Ms. Rowland recently sat down with Kelson of 93.9 WKYS radio in Washington, DC for a brief chat to dish on her new album, why she broke down in tears on stage during a recent performance, Beyonce’s response to “Dirty Laundry,” and more. Check out a few interview excerpts below:

On what made her open up on ‘Dirty Laundry’ and the perception that she was jealous of Beyonce back then:
It was a form of therapy and I feel like everybody has their version of ‘Dirty Laundry.’ And it’s nothing to be ashamed of because you’re supposed to grown and learn from it like I did. It was the place that I was in…I was so young. My head was completely gone. That’s what happened with my sister. What matters to me most is what we have. I’m so grateful for what we have as sisters…away from Destiny’s Child.

On breaking down during “Dirty Laundry” performance in D.C.:
It’s really weird when you take yourself in front of a crowd. Even in that moment of when I put my feet up, I felt like I was in therapy. I was singing and talking about what happened, and for a moment, it was like that crowd wasn’t even there. And then when the music stopped…I was like “You are live Kel. Calm down.” And I had to calm down, and in the moment, I had to breate. You get lost…and it’s nothing wrong with getting lost. But that was weird. That won’t happen again though [laughs]. I felt like I could do that with D.C.

We have to applaud Kelly for going out on a limb and putting all of her business out in these streets. Hit the flip to hear Beyonce’s reaction to ‘Dirty Laundry’ and what other  throwback songs were also about Kelly’s personal life.

On whether or not Beyonce heard ‘Dirty Laundry’ before it was released, and her reaction to it:
Of course! I played it (“Dirty Laundry”) for her and Michelle. She was just like “I never left.” Which was so sweet. It was endearing. She heard how real I was and she was just like “I’m so proud of you.”

On the rumors that the 2006 Destiny’s Child song ‘Girl’ was about her situation:
The funny thing is, I cannot believe how freakin’ spot on everybody was with that! Because between ‘Bad Habit’ and ‘Girl’….that WAS that time in my life. Y’all are just a little crazy [laughs]. They [the fans] ‘be knowin!
