With so many unanswered questions, false reports and rumors about the Government Shutdown spreading through social media, we compiled an essential guide for anyone confused about this petty, ego-fueled Government beef between Republicans and Pres. Obama.

Here are ten burning questions about the Government Shutdown. Take a look.

What is a “Government Shutdown” and why does it happen?

It’s an avoidable situation where the dysfunctional government stops providing all but “essential” services. Think NFL lockout, but rather than athletes and team owners at odds, it’s Congress and Pres. Obama who can’t reach a deal on a spending bill.

Under the Constitution, Congress must pass laws to spend money. If Congress can’t agree on a spending bill or the President vetoes it, it’s illegal for the Gub’ment to spend money.

What caused this Government shutdown? Who’s to blame?

The Republican-controlled House passed a spending bill that claims the Government can’t afford Obamacare (Affordable Care Act). Democratic Senate and Obama completely disagree. Some blame Obama for not repealing Obamacare as a compromise while 60% of Americans blame Republicans for acting like bratty 5th graders.

When would shutdown end?

The moment Obama compromises and signs a spending bill.

Does shutdown affect child support?

NO, payments still need to be made (or avoided).

SNAP program shut down?

Contrary to popular belief, you’d still be able to get food stamps funded by reserve SNAP funds.

No WIC vouchers until shutdown ends?

Sadly no, but they still may be available depending on your state.

When was the last Government shutdown?

17-years-ago when Bill Clinton was President. And yes, this is when his filthy fling with Monica Lewinsky happened.

How would shutdown impact the economy?

A short shutdown of a few days would shave millions off economic growth. Three or four week shutdown? Major economic damage. The last shutdown cost America an estimated $1.4 billion.
