Feds Target Al Sharpton’s Finances

The Feds got it poppin’ yesterday and raided Rev. Al Sharpton’s offices. According to reports:

Teams of federal agents swooped down on up to 10 close associates of the Rev. Al Sharpton Wednesday, demanding the flamboyant clergyman’s financial records since 2001. Sharpton’s former chief of staff said he was roused at his Harlem home about 6:30 a.m. by two FBI agents who handed him a subpoena to bring the records to a federal grand jury the day after Christmas.

Several employees of Sharpton’s National Action Network also got wakeup subpoenas to testify before the Brooklyn panel, the rabble-rousing reverend’s lawyer said.

The FBI and IRS are investigating whether Sharpton improperly misstated the amount of money he raised during his 2004 White House run to illegally obtain federal matching funds, a source familiar with the probe said. Sharpton, although forced to return $100,000 in matching taxpayer funds after an investigation two years ago, denied any wrongdoing at the time.

The feds are also looking into allegations of tax fraud, including whether Sharpton commingled funds from his nonprofit National Action Network with several of his for-profit ventures, the source said.

It’s time for Al to cut that “Big Red” conk off and get a real job. Getting rich off of old civil rights game is not where it’s at.

I am glad that someone is checking into the bullsh*t of AL and potentially others who claim to be leaders for the community, but we are still in the same shape that we have been in for a looooong time now. I have always seen him and Jesse as an opportunist, with no damn results. I almost wish that he would go to jail. I no like him at all.

Al & brotha Jesse are the biggest scam artists I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of them. Old Al has vast holdings that he probably put in his wife’s name knowing this day of reckoning would come. His and Jesse’s way of doing things has been a total disaster for us for the past fifty years. All they do is holler discrimination at whitefolks, meantime the black hoodrats, criminals and dopedealers have been turning our communities into war zones because they know that if they get into trouble and get shot, Al would hold a press conference, which CNN loves, and claim it’s all about the criminal being Black. never mind that the Black criminal in our communities has done their level best to ruin us and get everybody hooked on crack. Never mind that it is the black criminal who breaks into the homes of decent, law-abiding Black folks to rip them off. Never mind that black women are being raped by Black criminals and that these self-same, self-hating Black criminals, go to jail, prey on the younger hoodrats infecting them with aids so that when they get out, they too go around having sex with unsuspecting Black women, infecting them too. We need to be our own leaders of our families and stop relying on these preacher pimps who walk around with a kingdom in their heads and they are the rulers of that kingdom and whatever they say goes. These preacher pimps don’t speak for me and only weak minded people allow other folks to speak for them.

I am glad to see that most of the ppl on here are not dissing Al and Jesse for the work they put in back in the day but just don’t see how they are helping now. Most of the older crowd seem to be deluded and still praising based on what they did 20 or 30 years ago. Well, we seem to know that we need some new leaders, the only question is who will they be?

LOL, thanks And. 🙂 BTW, The Great Debaters, another Denzel movie was nominated for best motion pic as well. I hope he wins something.

I think God is sick and tired of their mess and is showing them up for what they truly are. Bringing out what they do in the dark to the light. Anybody can put on a collar and call himself a preacher.

I don’t know if Al is doing anything illegal, but I have often wondered where his income originates. Him and Jesse have no jobs per se and I have never seen them asking for money. Where does it come from? Let me look up their organizations on the web. Maybe they ask for money there.

I feel where you coming from, really I do, but what will “protested or got arrested or went on a got damn hunger strike for your people” do in 2008? We are on the verge of medical breakthroughs, solar and battery operated cars, ipods, cell phones the size of a deck of cards and yet you seem to feel the same way Al and Jesse do. They are still doing what they did in the 70s and 80s to make a change today. We are not the same as our parents, this world is not the same as when our parents were young. We need to evolve and find better for effective and efficient ways to do those things you suggested. Getting arrested and protesting will do no good today. We need to work smarter not harder.

    @ KEEPIN IT REAL

I totally agree 100%. I feel as though Al and Jesse only jump on issues that they know will bring them the most publicity and monetary value. I think when they were in their younger years, they really had a passion for helping out thier black communities but as they grew older there passion diminished and thier greed subsided. But God doesn’t like ugly and he’s gonna hit them where it hurts and take away what they value so much, that green!!
