Brown was a victim of sex trafficking. She was being sexually abused by a man she was living with who ordered her to get money from a man named Johnny Allen. She was afraid Allen would kill her so she shot him first. The prosecution argued that she shot him to steal from him.
Bruh this was from 2004. Sentenced 51 years for 1st degree murder. Apparently a lot of people are just hearing about this including me. It’s a shame. She’s still serving her sentence. Human trafficking is no joke. We need justice for Cyntoia Brown ! 🗣 pic.twitter.com/Jo5hJPHlAE

This speaks to a bigger issue. As of 2016, 183 people serving life sentences in Tennessee were sentenced as teens.
@POTUS please look into a pardon for Cyntoia Brown. Sex slave, abused, raped, wrongfully convicted. #freecyntoiabrown

Brown is a upstanding citizen in prison. She’s gotten an associate’s degree and is a mentor to other girls.

People need to realize that not only does this country not care about care about people of color, but this country doesn't care about women (of all shades and colors) as well. For example, Cyntoia Brown is in prison for life for defending herself by killing a rapist.

Like #BreshaMeadows, #CyntoiaBrown protected herself from predatory men, only for the "justice" system to fail them. #Nashville https://t.co/xlkTA7mK0q

Under Tennessee law, children convicted of first degree murder have to serve 51 (!!!) years before being eligible for parole.
The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown pic.twitter.com/73y26mLp7u
