Former WAGS Speak Out About Racism They Experienced From E!

What Happened To WAGS? Black Reality Stars Call Out E! And USA Networks Over BLM Statements

- By

You’ve likely seen this clip circulating social media this week. It’s of E! personality Nina Parker (who we LOVE)giving folks THE BUSINESS about how hurtful it is to experience silence from allies. Nina’s words are right on point.

Racists are really loud, so if you don’t agree with that, why are you silent? The people who hate me are loud as f***. I have been called ni**er so many times in my DMs the last few days. If you care about me I need you to speak up. Because these people who hate me are loud. I don’t give a damn about your insecurities. I don’t care how people are going to perceive you. If you do not agree with how people are treated. If you do not agree with seeing a man lose his life and beg for his mother on the ground I need you to say something. I need you to challenge your friends who make racist jokes. I need you to challenge your friends who have microaggressions about why that black girl got hired and not them. I need you to challenge your friends who make statements that you know aren’t right but you don’t want to rock the boat. It’s not about the racist’s character, we know they’re not thinking with the proper mind. It’s about yours. What are you going to do in his climate to make it different? Or would you rather just be comfortable and complain when things blow up in your face. Because I’m tired and my tolerance is high because I’ve been dealing with this my whole life.

The network has also been promoting a BRAVO IG Live session Monday with their personality Justin Sylvester and three of Bravo’s black housewives, Kandi Burruss, Porsha Williams and Gizelle Bryant.

Black Stories Matter. Black Voices Matter. Join @kandi, @porsha4real, and @gizellebryant for a dialogue on being Black in America with @edailypop host Justin Sylvester @theladysitter, MONDAY @ 7pm ET on @BravoTV Instagram Live. ✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻✊

The network also outlined a $100 million they’re investing toward social justice:

Our $100 million comprehensive, multiyear plan will be focused on social justice, our employees, awareness & education, digital equity and small businesses. This includes:

Social Justice: Partner with, and provide significant grants to, organizations working to eradicate injustice and inequality.

Our Employees: Accelerate our efforts in all areas of Diversity & Inclusion, including hiring, advancement and anti-bias and anti-racism training.

Awareness & Education: Put the full weight of our company’s media resources behind amplifying Black voices and Black stories, highlighting diverse cultures and shedding light on inequality.

Digital Equity: Deepen our long-standing commitment to addressing digital inequities, which disproportionately impact communities of color, including connectivity and digital skills training.

Small Businesses: Commit funds and media to help small businesses impacted by COVID-19, focused on businesses owned by people of color, and invest in minority entrepreneurs

E! also posted a clip of their personalities Nina Parker and Erin Lim discussing privilege… But the comments section was full of people asking why they cancelled WAGS

Sooooo can we talk about why WAGS was cancelled❓❓❓❓

#EIsCancelledParty #BringBackWags

The entire E platofkrm represents privilege. You guys need to shut your mouths and listen to the people who watch and make your shows worth millions. It’s getting disgusting with you guys

This clip about NASCAR banning the confederate flag got similar comments:

Sooooo can we talk about the real reason you all cancelled WAGS?

Y’all owe wags an apology

Bring back Wags! Every other show is boring and that includes the kardashians

Can y’all discussed how y’all cancelled #wagsmiami because it was to “ghetto” and didn’t want some of the black girls wearing braids because it was to “ghetto”????

So y’all cancelled wags Miami cos of the black girls in the show? Wow sad world we live in

Bring back wags

you guys should also issue an apology to the black women who work for your network and are on your shows. you say you support “black lives matter” by the way you deal with talent and staff doesn’t show it.

YOU DID WAGS WRONG !!!!!!!!!!

Stop lying!! You don’t celebrate black people. You celebrate the Kardashians. Bring back WAGS Miami!

Yeah… They definitely need to address this WAGS situation. ASAP. Do you want E! to bring WAGS back? Are you tired of the Kardashians? Do you believe the network is serious about addressing inequality? What do you think E! can do to right the situation with the black WAGS? How about USA? Did you feel “The Cromarties” got the short end of the stick when it comes to marketing?
