2020 has been one hell of a year, and no matter the circumstances, it’s safe to say all of us are going through it in one way or another. While high profile celebrities have huge houses and millions of dollars to keep them warm at night–which makes their quarantining look a lot different than us regular folk–that doesn’t mean they don’t have any issues of their own.

The strangeness that’s been going on all year has effected what fans thought were some of the strongest celebrity relationships, leaving a lot of stars to start off the next decade single and with a clean slate. From Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler to Ne-Yo and Crystal Renay Smith, here’s the biggest celebrity breakups of 2020, so far…

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler

After a decade together, Kristin Cavallari announced on her Instagram page that her and her husband, Jay Cutler, were getting a divorce. The news came in April, surprising fans who just finished watching the third season of Very Cavallari a month prior, where the couple seemed happier than ever on their trip to Italy. They got married in 2013 and share three children together, Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor.

Summer Walker and London On Da Track

In April, The Neighborhood Talk reported that Summer Walker and London On Da Track quietly called it quits. Their source claims that the breakup was a mutual decision and Summer is now “taking time to focus on herself” and London is “working with other artists.” The two seemed happier than ever back in February, when they were living it up in Vegas and giving each other Valentine’s day shout outs.

Plus, less than a month before their breakup announcement, a viral video of London “playfully” choking Summer surfaced–so it’s still not known when this split actually took place, but both artists have deleted all of the coupled up photos they had with one another on their respective IG pages.

Princess Love and Ray J

The story behind Princess Love and Ray J’s breakup is definitely more dramatic than the rest.

In November 2019, Princess took to social media to share that her husband left her and their daughter, Melody, stranded in Las Vegas with no way of getting home. To make matters worse, that was when she was only weeks away from giving birth to their second child. Love threatened divorce, but the couple worked things out and on December 30th, Epik Norwood was born.

Just one month later, Princess Love and Ray J decided to take a step back from their marriage. At the tail end of January, during a Q&A session with her fans on Instagram, Princess replied to a fan asking if her and Ray J were still together, writing, “Not right now..right now we’re just focused on the kids.”

Ne-Yo and Crystal Renay Smith

With more than three years of marriage under their belt, Ne-Yo and his wife, Crystal Renay Smith, called it quits at the top of 2020–but things might not be done for good between these two.

After weeks of rumors about their relationship being over, the singer confirmed in an episode of Private Talk with Alexis Texas that things were indeed done-zo.

“Slowly but surely it’s becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce,” he told the podcast host. “It’s not a sad thing… long story short, I’m never gonna talk bad about her; I’m not that person. There’s nothing bad to say about her; she’s a fantastic woman. She’s the mother of my children. She’s always gonna be that, and I will always respect her.”

In March, Ne-Yo filed for divorce alleging that his marriage was “irretrievably broken,” and there was no hope for reconciliation. A panel of judges later granted a mutual restraining order between the pair that barred both sides from taking their kids out of state or trash-talking the other in front of their children.

But the “So Sick” singer must have had a change of heart, because a month later, he asked the judge to throw the case out, without prejudice, which means he can refile it again. They’ve reportedly been quarantining together for the past couple months, so maybe this time will be exactly what their relationship needs to come back even stronger.

Kehlani and YG

Just days after posting lovey-dovey videos at a romantic dinner with YG on Valentine’s Day, Kehlani announced her and the rapper had split.

She referenced their breakup in her solo track “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” which she released on Soundcloud only three days after the then-couple dropped their collaboration, “Konclusions” on Valentine’s Day. She announced in a now-deleted tweet after releasing the song that she was single when asked by fans.

The couple was already on the rocks in October 2019–shortly after first making their relationship public–after YG was caught getting cozy with another woman outside of a club in Los Angeles. The rapper denied cheating on Kehlani, but the couple broke up (at least for a little while) before reconciling and going public again in 2020.

Lyrics from Kehlani’s “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” allude to YG talking to another woman behind her back (“Wish I didn’t check your text when you was drunk ‘sleep/ I’ve seen everything that I ain’t wanna see”) which is seemingly what led to their final breakup in February.
